Hot Orange Mocha Coffee Recipe

This fall, we met up at Julia's house in North-Central PA to create our DIY Keychain Kits and DIY Embroidery Holiday Card Kits. For a little added boost before we started, we made my favorite luxury coffee recipe. Using heavy cream, orange peel, dark chocolate cocoa powder and dense brown sugar, this recipe is indulgent and soothing. Perfect for a chilly day when you're curled up the couch crafting!

Hot Orange Mocha Coffee

Serves: 4

peel from one orange
5 cups hot, strong coffee
1/2 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

In a saucepan, combine the orange peel and the hot coffee. Let simmer over medium low heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and discard the orange peel.

Meanwhile, whisk together the cocoa powder, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Whisk cocoa mixture into the coffee, and add cream to your taste.

This recipe is originally from Better Homes and Gardens, but we've pared it down for simplicity's sake. Make yourself a cup, and enjoy!
