Disappearing Acts by Bruce Nauman at MoMA
I visited the Museum of Modern Art in New York City recently. On the fourth floor, I found Disappearing Acts by Bruce Nauman. My favorite piece was a large double arc sculpture that you could enter through a single door. The only caveat? You need a special key to get inside.
Go down to the third floor and request the key. If it's available, you have access to the sculpture for one hour. You can enter and exit the sculpture as many times as you like within that hour, but you cannot share the key with anyone.
It was very strange to enter a private sculpture in a crowded room. The noise was muffled, but other museum-goers knew I was inside. They peeked in from either end of the sculpture. Because of the arc design, once I walked a few feet away from the open ends of the mint green sculpture, I was alone.
Interested in seeing this piece for yourself? The exhibition will be on display at MoMA through February 19, 2019.
